Q: How does VPS compare to my current Servage One account on the shares server, and what are the benefits?
A: VPS includes shell access and you can install your own application/software.



Q: What ressources does a VPS server provide?
A: 1CPU, 600 MB Ram, 150 GB Disc Space, 5TB Bandwith.



Q: You provide 5 TB bandwidth.Is there a daily bandwidth limit?
A: No, all limits are monthly.



Q: Does VPS have any limit on the number of GET/POST requests that are allowed per hour.
A: No, but as usual Servage preserve the rights to suspend a VPS if it has any negative affects on the overall system performance.



Q: The file and database transfer will be done or client will need to carry out the transfer manually ?
A: Manually by the client.



Q: How to get SSH access to my VPS?
A: Please install a SSH client on your locale machine first. In this client, please enter the SSH credentials which were provided by Servage when the account was set up.



Q:This VPS includes remote control via shell? Is there any limit for domain, mysql etc.?
A: Yes SSH Access is of course included. There are not limits regarding to the number of domains, databases and so on.



Q: The VPS we will be providing will be blank ?
A: No, we do have a VPS-agent installed that allows our control panel to work in order to have domains, databases and other services to be added.



Q: What is the path to php.ini
A: /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini



Q: How can I check the current VPS agent version?
A: dpkg -l servage-vpsagent



Q: How can I update the VPS agent to the latest version?
A: apt-get update && apt-get install servage-vpsagent



Q: Since its a VPS, customer can install any application/software ?
A: Of course customer can install any application/software.



Q: What is the root path of the VPS server
A: /var/www



Q: Do you provide a full VPS backup with restore option in the backend?
A: We are not making any backups, the customers are responsible for that if they want to..



Q: When I order the VPS will the domain names remain active at our hosted package? This is very important because we need some time to migrate to the VPS.
A: Yes, nothing changes in the Servage One account as its no upgrade. The customer will have to move domain by domain



Q: Will the DNS server for domains and email servers be named after my account? instead of Servage? For example mail server incoming.servage.net would this be instead incoming.domainname.com or whatever my account name is?
A:The nameservers will remain the same as on an Servage One account. Mailserver will be created like mail.domain.tld as the mail services are defined on the VPS. If the customer wants customized DNS he will have to install and maintain.



Q: Is it possible to set up a SSL?
A: Yes, it is possible. The customer needs to purchase a SSL certificate at a SSL registry, and configure it on his VPS.



Q: Can a SSL certificate be moved from a Servage one account to a VPS account?
A: Yes, that is possible. The customer needs to do the configuration himself. All SSL information are provided in the Servage one account control panel.



Q: Can a dedicated Ip be moved from a Servage one account to a VPS account?
A: No, that is not possible. It is not needed to run a dedicated IP on the VPS, since the VPS package allready provides a dedicated IP



Q: Can I access my mail accounts which are created via a VPS accont via Webmail?
A: No, that is not possible. Please configure a mail client (e.g. ThunderBird or Outlook). The necessary details are displayed in the mail section of the control panel.



Q: I am wondering how to enable mod_rewrite on my webserver
A: In order to enable mod_rewrite you need to execute the following command: a2enmod rewrite
After that apache needs to be reloaded/restarted.



Q: How to enable 'Follow symlinks tag', so that symlinks work from one site to another.
A: Check the details on http://www.maxi-pedia.com/FollowSymLinks


Q: What permissions do files which are uploaded via FTP have?
A: 600 permission. This is intended by the default ftp server config on the VPS and needs to be changed in the ftp server config file. The change can be done through /etc/vsftpd.conf if its default Debian



Q: How to load the domain with all prefixes and with http
A: The virtual host entries should look like that:

Q:How to install phpmyadmin on the Servage VPS?

A: Check the following procedure step by step:

1. Install phpmyadmin by apt-get. $apt-get install phpmyadmin

2. Search for the phpmyadmin configuration directory and look for apache.conf

  1. Use "updatedb" to update the slocate database. We need to use "locate" to search for the file.

$updatedb

  1. Search for "apache.conf"

$locate apache.conf /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf

3. Edit the file /etc/apache2/apache2.conf and include the phpmyadmin apache.conf. $nano /etc/apache2/apache2.conf

  1. add the line below at the end of the file and save it.

Include /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf

4. Restart Apache2 $/etc/init.d/apache2 restart

5. Go to http://yourdomain/phpmyadmin to see if it works.
